My Chance Encounter With The God

Last Sunday, as part of my morning routine, I went to a community park near my apartment for a walk. After the walk, I generally sit on a bench for some time. After few minutes, one elderly man came and sat next to me on the same bench. I greeted him with a smile and he responded back to me with a nod. Out of curiosity I asked him who is he. He replied that he is a messenger of God. When I asked what does messenger mean, he explained that the Supreme God speaks to him directly. It sounded quite mystic and who-woo at the outset but for some reason I kept listening to him with an open mind. Soon he started telling me a story, of how all it got started i.e. the story of creation, which is never heard of or known before by the mankind. I am not going into those stories here as it will distract us from the core message. However, based on those stories, he comprehended why all religions and spiritual practices are operating under the matrix or illusion or maya. And to get free from this matrix, he suggested few practices which would keep our connection with God and hence eventually take us to Him for once and all.

After a long talk, he took a pause. All he said comes down to point that whatever we know or follow for our spiritual growth is actually stopping us from connecting with God. And only the practices being suggested by him can cut the chase. Obviously first I resisted to all of this and started shooting lot of questions on him. He was absolute sincere, authoritative, straight forward and had lot of patience to answer all my questions. In few hours I was exhausted asking my questions and have already started feeling heaviness in my head. As I was gathering strength preparing my next question, my phone alarm rang loudly breaking me out from the sleep.

As I slowly come in my conscious, it was difficult to believe that I was dreaming all this. Saying it was an overwhelming experience for me would be an understatement. As I reflected back, it was difficult to either deny everything or accept all. Later I realized my mistake that I was thinking in black and white. It immediately strike me that it is always grey. This principle has always rescued me into falling for something blindly or ignoring it completely. You can always strike a right balance and learn from every experience by picking the pearls and leave the rest.

I would not go into what I later decided to drop from that discussion but rather would like to share some important nuggets from that intense discussion with the messenger of God. These infact feels to me like coming directly from Him. Some or all of these points may sound familiar but all put together makes a good case for understanding how illusory this world is. And then towards the end, we will talk about what could be done.

  1. Our stories are not ours — Everything is happening as per storyline written by groups souls like a drama script, considering the past karmas. Best way is to surrender and go with flow of the script. Live life as if it is your last and fully engage with life. Also live day by day, not too much into future, saying “aaj ka din nikal jaye” (let today be passed..). When in doubt, ask for the will of god in everything and in case of bigger challenges you can leave to God by praying “bhagwan jara dekh lena..” (God, please look after this..). But we should restrain ourselves for asking to fulfil our wishes because wishes getting fulfilled are also a way of illusion to keep us distracted with our connection of God. Real connection with God should be for no other reason but to go back to him.
  2. Our thoughts are not ours — All our thoughts are negative, even positive thoughts are based on either fears and desires. Many non physical bodies in the environment and our ancestors put a lot of things in our mind. They do this to ensure our stories are running as planned and we do not escape it in between. This ensures the continuation of their own evolution by taking their future births. This calls out for us to regularly watch out our ambitions, desires and passions which we sometimes think are ours but they are seeded by others for their vested interests.

3. Our relatives are not ours — All relatives are temporary, suffering uniquely and and travelling as per their own storyline. Don’t judge people in life and treat them just as holograms in the movie which are playing part as per storyline. Nothing should be taken personal and so best way is to restrain yourself in reciprocating in the drama. Game of life is not about to control but how to react to the situation.

4. Our negativity is not ours — Energies of people around us impact us. Lot of people send negative energies unconsciously with their thoughts, even though on the onset they look nice and our well wishers. Higher probability to receive such energies is at public places. We all need to regularly clean or heal ourselves, house, car, place of work etc. On the other side, notice and forgive yourself if you unconsciously are sending any negative messages to others.

5. Our positivity is not positive — Doing good is not so good as both good and bad are part of the illusion and contribute to the future karma. Doing good for others should not be an personal endeavor but rather be done as it comes naturally or spontaneously. We can reflect sometimes whether I am living life as service to self or service to others to expand our consciousness and make the natural shift. Even religious scriptures and spiritual gurus are not perfect and are operating under the illusion. Lot of goodness is done to feel good while real service to others is to help them wake up to the illusion. Journey of life for all of us is about completion and not creation.

6. Meaningless life is not depressing — Reduced passion can only set us free and can be achieved when we regularly follow the will of God. Free life means where you start enjoying life by just engaging with what is happening not what you want. Simple life is not depressing but also not exciting. Depression happens when not able to accept reality after being tired of fighting.

In summary, as human beings, we are bound by birth and death as a never ending process. We can only escape this complex illusion by keeping our connection with God intact (by remembering Him, chanting His name and meditating on Him). We should keep releasing any negativity whether self created or received from others regularly (through keeping ourselves clean and healed). The last but not the least by keep asking God’s will in day to day decisions (by accepting what is happening and living from the heart space). The messenger also told me that God is very inclusive and allowing. So I am assuming some differences on the approach as followed by different religions and paths are agreeable to Him.

Thank you for reading. Love God, embrace the unknown and live consciously.
